Taking my parents to their bucket list destination of Istanbul last year. Watching their eyes light up as we stood between Istanbul’s Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia will always be a treasured memory and something that will outshine any souvenir. And then there was convincing my “I’ll-just-watch-from-here” dad to experience a traditional Turkish bath! He now regales everyone with tales of his unexpected “spa day” with such dramatic flair, turning that reluctant adventure into his favorite party story—complete with animated hand gestures mimicking the vigorous scrubbing he endured!
