Kasbah Tamadot sits in the foothills near Asni, about an hour from Marrakech. It is the kind of property I would evaluate for a traveler who wants a genuine mountain setting rather than a mountain view from the city. The valley position is the whole point — you wake up inside the landscape you came to hike, not a drive away from it. Pair it with two or three nights of trekking, village visits and slower pacing before you head into Marrakech.
Royal Mansour — Marrakech

Royal Mansour is palace-scale privacy. Rather than rooms along a corridor, guests stay in individual riads with their own terraces, which suits travelers who want the address without the exposure that usually comes with it. This is my recommendation when privacy sits at the top of the list.
La Mamounia — Marrakech

La Mamounia is historic grandeur — gardens, scale and a presence in Marrakech that stretches back to 1929. It is the more social of the Marrakech options, and the right call for a traveler who wants to feel part of the city’s story rather than tucked away from it.
Villa des Orangers — Marrakech

Villa des Orangers is intimate riad-style calm, on a much smaller footprint than the other two. For travelers who find grand hotels tiring, or who are spending their days out in the medina and want quiet to come back to, this is usually the better fit. Which of the three Marrakech properties suits you depends far more on the traveler than on the star rating.
Dar Ahlam — Draa Valley

Dar Ahlam goes well past a traditional luxury hotel stay, with dining set in different locations around the property and an emphasis on surprise. There is no printed schedule and no menu handed to you. For a certain traveler that is disorienting; for the one who wants the trip taken out of their hands entirely, it is the highlight of the itinerary.
