The island’s warm hospitality, coupled with a wide range of family-friendly activities and accommodations, ensures that every family member, from the youngest to the oldest, will have an unforgettable experience.

Why Bali is Great for Families

Bali is a haven for family travelers. The island offers an extensive array of activities that cater to diverse interests. Children can explore interactive and educational attractions such as the Sacred Monkey Forest and the Tegalalang Rice Terraces. At the same time, parents can indulge in the island’s luxurious spas and fine dining experiences. The Balinese culture, with its emphasis on community and family, welcomes visitors of all ages. The island’s infrastructure is well-developed, providing easy access to various attractions and ensuring families’ comfortable and safe stay.

When to Travel: Seasonality in Bali

Bali enjoys a tropical climate with two main seasons: the dry season (April to September) and the wet season (October to March).

Dry Season:

The dry season is ideal for outdoor activities such as beach outings, trekking, and exploring cultural sites, as the weather is predominantly sunny with low humidity.

Wet Season:

Although the wet season is characterized by higher humidity and occasional rainfall, it offers its own charm, with lush landscapes and fewer crowds. It is a great time to explore the island’s indoor attractions and enjoy the serene atmosphere.

December to March, being the wettest months, require some flexibility in planning but also promise lush green scenery and vibrant cultural festivities.

What to Know About Travel to Indonesia

Traveling to Indonesia requires some preparation, especially for families. Here are a few key points to consider:

  • Visas: Many nationalities can obtain a visa on arrival, valid for 30 days. It is advisable to check the latest visa requirements before traveling.
  • Health: Ensure that all family members are up-to-date with routine vaccinations. Consider vaccinations for Hepatitis A, Typhoid, and other diseases prevalent in the region. Carrying a basic medical kit is recommended.
  • Currency: The Indonesian Rupiah (IDR) is the local currency. While major credit cards are accepted in larger establishments, it is advisable to carry some cash for smaller purchases.
  • Language: Bahasa Indonesia is the official language, but English is widely spoken in tourist areas.
  • Safety: Bali is generally safe, but it is essential to take standard travel precautions. Keep an eye on personal belongings and be cautious when engaging in outdoor activities.
  • Driving: We do not recommend driving in Bali or renting a vehicle, as the roads and street signs can be very challenging to navigate. Private transfers and drivers are the preferred method of transportation.
  • Affordability: Bali is on our list of the top 8 exceptional destinations that won’t break the bank!
